How to Unmerge Customers

How to Unmerge Customers 


There are different reasons why a contact might need to be split into individual contacts. (Ex. Husband and wife, Mom and daughter, Father and son, etc.) 


Below are the steps to separate/unmerge one contact into individual contact records. 

 

1. Create a new contact for the secondary policy holder 

       a. Click Search, then Click + New Lead  



2. Fill in the name field, then click the Save icon



3. Search for the Primary Contact



4. In the example below, we are removing "New" from the first name field on this contact record. New and Old were both listed as owners of this contract and are separating into individual contacts.


 

a) Original Contact Record showing "New" has been removed


b) New Contact you created earlier


**Note. If necessary, follow the additional steps to transfer the policy over to the new second file 

5. Hover over the policy > Right click on the mouse > Choose Transfer Ownership 

 



6. Search for the second contact name on the new lead that was added previously > Select the contact record and click "Transfer Vehicle"


7. A new window will open to confirm Yes or No, click Yes to complete the transfer
